Any person standing in front of one of these pieces is instantly reflected on its surface. This mechanical mirror has video cameras, motors and computers on board such that the individual pieces shift to produce a ghostly image of whatever is placed before it despite being completely composed of wood.

My work seeks to illuminate the entwining relations between embodied mind, mathematics, and the physical world. My artwork is structured by mathematical functions, which though relatively simple in nature yield outcomes of surprising organic complexity. I have created this work by hand using, at most, the aid of a pocket calculator.

These space colony concept drawings were the result of collaboration between Princeton physicist Gerard O’Neill, the NASA Ames Research Center and Stanford University in the 1970’s. They held a series of space colony summer studies which explored the possibilities of humans living in giant orbiting spaceships.
